Need the Perfect Wedding Gift?

Wedding
Tired of the same old items on a wedding gift registry? An article in the Boston Globe points out that some couples are looking to register for more useful things – like legal services.  It makes sense; once you are married you’ll need a Will, perhaps to update your health care proxy and power of attorney to appoint your new spouse, maybe you need assistance with getting your names changed, or you want to put the house in both names.

Just think of the possibilities – for an engagement party the couple could register for gift certificates to their respective attorneys to have a prenuptial agreement drawn up, then after the wedding they need to begin their estate plan, and once the babies start to arrive the estate plan needs to be updated with trusts and guardians.

So if you have lots of weddings to go to this summer and can’t stand the thought of buying another crystal vase or pasta strainer, maybe the couple would welcome a contribution towards the cost of their estate plan.

  1. Leanna, I’m so happy to find your blog and learn about your practice! (Thank you for dropping in to Private Practice from the Inside Out and commenting!) Your website is lovely . . . . It’s chocked full of useful and accessible information. You have been thoughtful in it’s design and I’ll be happy to use it as an example of how to set up a website.

After scrolling through several pages of your blog and trying to comment, I realized that you have closed comments to some of your older posts. Too bad . . . I wanted to say “thank you” anyway for taking the time to post specifically on LGBT issues. I can so relate to some of the situations that you have addressed and appreciate the work you do in that community.

I also want to note that even though my practices (both PPIO i.e. marketing site that you visited and my clinical counseling practice) are not based in MA, I and my clients can still benefit from the more general information that you present. I will be referring them to your site. (I tried to download the divorce guide on your resource page but the link does not appear to be working.)

I look forward to reading your blog and hope you’ll drop back in to Private Practice from the Inside Out as your are able.
