Hospice Home Opening in Hingham

The old Quaker Friends Home on Turkey Hill in Hingham is being reopened as a hospice facility this fall by Norwell VNA & Hospice. The Hospice Residence at Turkey Hill will have 12 beds in private rooms. According to the website:

The focus of care is on providing physical, emotional, social and spiritual support for patients and their families. Our hospice services and support are tailored to meet the specific needs of each of our patients and their families. Professional medical care emphasizes pain management and symptom relief. Emotional and spiritual support offers patients and families comfort and strength.

The home will also offer common areas for families to gather – the library, tea room, outside porch and the beautiful, extensive grounds. There will also be family suites for visitors from out of town.

From the pictures it looks like they kept most of the beautiful architectural details of the Friends Home. I often had occasion to visit there when it was an assisted living facility and it’s nice to know more people will get to enjoy it, even at a somber time of life.  For those who want hospice care outside of their home or a hospital, it looks to be a beautiful and peaceful place to spend your final days.
