Services & Fees

The following is a list of some of the services I provide. If you would like to inquire about working with me, please call my office at 781-749-2284. Depending on the type of services required, I bill on a project basis, an hourly basis, or a combination of both.

It is difficult to give precise information about fees without knowing the entire situation. However, as a consumer, I appreciate when businesses list fee information on their sites.  It is with that in mind that I give you a general range of fees.

Estate Planning Project-based billing. The initial planning meeting is $200.00. Fees generally begin at $1,200.00 for a single person, $2,300.00 for a couple and go up based on the complexity of the plan.  Plans with trusts or tax planning begin at $3,500.00 and go up based on the complexity of the plan.  After we’ve gone over your situation at the initial planning meeting, I’ll present you with the planning options based on your goals, and let you know what the fees are.  You’ll be able to decide which plan works best for your family and your budget.  Services include:

  • Review and analysis of client’s situation, discussing of goals, wishes, and needs;
  • Planning for health care decisions in the event of incapacity;
  • Planning for continued management of finances in the event of incapacity;
  • Planning for care of children in the event of parents’ incapacity or death;
  • Planning for management of assets for minor children;
  • Planning for children (including adult children) with special needs to ensure continuation of vital services and benefits, and protection of assets;
  • Planning for second marriages, blended families and large age gaps between children;
  • Planning for disposition of property at death;
  • Confirmation and revision of beneficiaries on retirement accounts, as needed.

Elder Law Project-based billing.  Initial planning and analysis meeting is $450.00.  Fees depend on the complexity of the planning, the size of the estate and the tasks involved.  Medicaid planning and assistance with the application process vary depending on the complexity of the planning. After we’ve gone over the entire situation at our initial meeting, I’ll let you know my recommendations and the fees involved so that you can make an informed choice. Services include:

  • Helping you cope with being overwhelmed,
  • Review and revision of estate plan;
  • Long term care planning;
  • Medicaid/MassHealth planning;
  • Assistance with Medicaid/MassHealth application filing;
  • Referral to other professionals as needed.

I, along with one of my daughters, first met with Leanna with the thought in mind of making things less complicated for my children when I die. I am beyond eighty and feel this will be a parting gift to my children sometime in the future. Leanna prepared and explained all the necessary documents. She was very patient in answering our many questions and seemed most knowledgeable. Estate Administration and Probate Hourly billing.  Current hourly rate is $325.00 per hour. Factors that impact fees are: size and complexity of estate; disposition of property; relationships among heirs. Total fees from the opening to the closing of the estate generally range from $5,000.00 –  $15,000.00. Services include:

  • Representation of Administrators and Executors of Estates;
  • Assistance with opening estate, gathering assets, filing Inventories and Accounts and distributing assets;
  • Consultative assistance (rather than full representation) for small estates,
  • Assisting agents appointed under a Power of Attorney in carrying out their duties;

Guardianship/Conservatorship Hourly billing.  Current hourly rate is $325.00 per hour. Factors that impact fees are: ability obtain medical information; whether guardianship is contested; how property is held in a conservatorship; whether additional planning is needed, and whether the client wants complete assistance or wants to take on some of the work themselves.  Total fees tend to begin around $5,000.00 if the attorney is performing all of the work, including attending the hearing.  Services include:

  • Representation of persons bringing a petition for guardianship or conservatorship;
  • Assistance to guardians and conservators in fulfilling their reporting and accounting requirements with the court;
  • Counseling families on the possible alternatives to guardianship and conservatorship.

Certain cases involving the courts may require court-filing fees, and transactions involving real estate transfers will require Registry of Deeds recording fees.
